Xiaomi seems to want to escape the shadow of the giant Apple, but still goes to copy the design in a fairly blatant way.
Xiaomi has been criticized a lot for blatantly copying Apple for success. From product design, to the website, operating system interface, event invitations, even the way Steve Jobs dressed and gestures were followed by CEO Lei Jun.
But recently, the “tiny grain of rice” has been trying to find its own path, focusing on technological research and creating new designs. We can see the recently launched Mi MIX Alpha, a very unique smartphone with a screen that surrounds the body by 180%. Xiaomi seems to want to escape the shadow of the giant Apple.

Xiaomi is always “learning” Apple.
But horses get used to the old path, recently Xiaomi has continued to “learn” Apple’s design, and Samsung’s product strategy.
The Mi Smartwatch, which Xiaomi will launch on November 5, has an identical design to the Apple Watch. Square watch face with curved beveled edges on 4 sides, control knob and buttons on the side. All are similar to the Apple Watch.

In the recently released hands-on video, we can also see the controls using the rotary knob to scroll the screen just like the Apple Watch. Copying the Apple design is probably understandable, as we all know that the Apple Watch truly succeeds in the smart watch market, knocking out all other competitors.

But it doesn’t stop there; Xiaomi is also learning Samsung’s smart product strategy. It is the leap from Mi Note 3 (2017) to Mi Note 10 (the international version of Mi CC9 Pro), and ignore Mi Note 4 or Mi Note 5 in sequence.
Samsung has also implemented a similar product strategy, leaping from Galaxy Note 5 to Galaxy Note 7, and skipping Galaxy Note 6. If the Note 6 debuted with a lower number than the Galaxy S7 in 2016 , users may feel like they’re buying an outdated device, so unifying the model number will also unify the premium image that Samsung wants to bring.

Xiaomi uses the same product strategy as Samsung.
TechTimes judged this to be a smart move, because it eliminates any doubts from users about the obsolescence of the product. Not only that, this naming is also to catch up with rival Apple, when the same year iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were launched. Therefore, Galaxy Note 7 will create an equal impression in the user’s mind when they compare these two products.

Samsung also previously ignored Note 6, to jump from Note 5 to Note 7 to help outdated.
It seems that Xiaomi also wants to learn this strategy from Samsung, by leaps and bounds to the Mi Note 10 so that it does not become obsolete. While Samsung has also launched the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10, Xiaomi can use this Mi Note 10 to compete directly.
The Mi Note 10 may be powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset, 5 rear cameras and a 108MP sensor. These are very impressive parameters and can completely turn this phone into a ‘flagship killer’.
The really effective ones still need “learning”, the creative ones are still not practical
It can be seen that what Xiaomi’s creativity and innovation is still not realistic. For example, Mi MIX Alpha, the smartphone has a bold and impressive design, but whether it succeeds in commercialization. Although it looks very nice, it is not easy to use and is not sure to bring the best user experience.

Mi MIX Alpha has a very impressive design, but not necessarily successful when commercialized.
As for Apple or Samsung, they do not have many daring things like Chinese smartphone companies. But what these two giants do is effective, pragmatic, and make money. That’s why Xiaomi still has to “learn” from Apple and Samsung.
But by copying the design of the Apple Watch, it seems that Xiaomi doesn’t need to save face either. Or being told that I copied Apple too much, so I was embarrassed? Anyway, this method still brings success for Xiaomi, it is okay to be criticized.
